locked_user sundialsvc4 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Sounds stupid, I know, but...

On the MySQL download site, where in the heck is the command-line version of mysqladmin.exe?!

Their download pages literally do not seem to offer a command-line utility. But DBD::mysql appears to need it (Strawberry Perl).

(Eeeee-yuk!) How I hate Windoze! :-D

How does MySQL's lack of command line utility for Windows or your inability to find it have anything to do Windows?

But DBD::mysql appears to need it (Strawberry Perl).

No, the installer for DBD::mysql needs it. You could use ppm to install DBD::mysql to bypass this requirement.

My due apologies to the group.   It's been a dreadfully long day.   (And by the way, I actually mean that:   I do, indeed, “humbly beg the Monastery's indulgences.”)

Anyhow, for the record:   to get to the command-line tools (in Windoze), you must download and install the "MySQL server" installation kit ... then elect to actually install nothing but the tools.

Once you do that ... and by-the-way to the immense credit of the “Strawberry Perl” folks! ... it actually Just Works™ quite well, indeed.

      gigglefits for everyone :)

        :-)

Thank you.   I do believe that, in this situation, we all just really needed a giggle-fit.   “Ain't it just amazin' what a few end-of-workday beers can do for your perspective ...” ;-)

This has absolutely nothing to do with your question, and for that I apologize in advance.

The amount of extra formatting in your question hurts my eyes. Using italics, underlining, and fixed-width emoticons is just too much. You can just as effectively communicate your problems and opinions without so much fancy formatting.
