In perusing the Perl Monks Statistical Page, I began to wonder if perhaps the monk with the most experience should not indeed be the Perl Pope.

This does raise some interesting theological issues, which I will not get into here.

Interesting discussion, anyway.

    Nahh. If we have a Perl Pope we'll then have to parade him around in a bullet proof car. Have him bless all perl programs and programmers. Help him get around so he doesn't fall all over himself. And be prepared to preserve his body to such a state that he'll look as if he wasn't dead when he dies.

    Now how much is that going to cost PM? <G>

      The cost of the PerlPopeMobile could be defrayed by the selling of relics.

      Certainly the *aquiring* of these saintly artifacts would slim down the supposedly burgeoning number of the annoited. It's been a great money maker over the years for the Roman Office....

      But we have Pontiffs already, no? We'd have to get even more sacreligious to make it all make sense... I think just calling him vroom will have to do. Though Saints seem to cover a fairly broad range right now--should we have "lesser Angels" and "Archangels" on top of the list?

        The "Saint" designation could be subdivided without too much heartburn. Borrowing from the job titles that we all know and *cough* love:
        "His Vroomness (Inf)"
        "Distinguished Saint (12)"
        "Senior Saint (11)"
        "Saint (10)"
        Other options are suggested by the "a synod of 12th level web mages" footer that appears on these pages.
