Except that he wasn't getting any data back. The LongTruncOk was false, so the query failed returning no rows.

    ok, so LongTruncOk was false but unless the OP had also disabled PrintError and RaiseError he should have got a "String data, right truncation" error. The only point I was attempting to make was that a little bit more information here would not have hurt.

      Could you clarify as this may be a bug. You got no error or warning at all, you got no rows and you had not disabled PrintError/RaiseError but simply increasing LongReadLen returned a row?
