The '['/']' characters, shown literally in a Title looked fine in the Preview, but vanished when I actually submitted.

Another annoying quirk of preview is how lists are handled. Let's say you have an ordered list in between two paragraphs. Preview shows a nice blank line before and after the list, but when you submit they vanish and leave you with a list flush against the preceding and following text.

Imo preview should show *exactly* how perlmonks will render your input.

Writing [ in the title, in the above message, did the same thing! It looked fine in the preview but vanished on the final submit.

I think it's a bug by definition if the preview doesn't match the submit. It's there so I can fix limitations and problems and special chars!

There are good reasons not to allow [ and ] (and other special characters) in the titles; but they should be weeded out when you hit preview.

You'll note that a few threads have names like "TTuse strict/TT" because someone tried to put <TT> tags in their title. Possibly this should generate a warning to call the monk's attention to their transgression.

The next reply is a test to see which characters are "special" in titles.
