jonabb has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Can someone help me resolve an installation problem, please.

When I try to execute a command I'm getting the error message "'perl' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

I am a complete layman when it comes to Perl, but I have managed to install it on my other computer (which is not with me right now).

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

How did you install Perl on this computer?

Thanks! I downloaded a zip file from the ActivePerl website, extracted it, then moved the 'perl' folder to the C drive directory.

You need to add the c:\perl\bin directory to you path.

So you did not use Installer.bat? Installer.bat will update the registry to add to %PATH%
