You need the gd libs, the libpng libs, the zlib libs and the jpeg libs. Others are Optional. You'll also need gd from CPAN. Read accompanied docs in order to get it installed.

Well, OK, I'll treat you like a retard.

Hey retard! Why don't you tell us some useful information about the problems you're having? "I have been unsuccessful"? What does that mean, you retard?

    :-)

There are two good ways to install a module. 1. download the tar.gz file (I assume you're on some kind of Unix) and...

tar zxvf File.tar.gz cd File perl Makefile.PL make make test [optional] su [enter your password] make install exit
    2. if you have the CPAN module installed
su [enter your password] perl -MCPAN -e shell
This will get you to a nice interactive shell where you can type install Module::Name

If this doesn't help, rephrase your question to be a bit more helpful.

You don't say what OS you're on, so I'll assume you're on Linux, like me :-) .

I had a lot of problems with GD not recognizing freetype until I went back and re-installed the GD library and Freetype from the RedHat RPM's and then re-installed the GD module.

Note that there is a script that comes with the latest distribution of GD that will modify libgd (the GD library) to build itself as a dynamic library; this may or may not be needed for your system. Note that the latest version of GD.pm will only patch the latest version (1.84) of the GD library. I found that I didn't have to apply the patch; once I had installed libjpeg, freetype, libgd, zlib, and libpng the GD module installed nicely.

If you want more help, you're going to have to tell us more, including what OS you're using, which version of GD, which versions of libjpeg, libpng, libgd, and maybe freetype, as well as what problems you're having and what you've tried.
