in thread Developing a module, how do you do it ?

HTML is passable for tables (until you want to change the display of cells and borders, in which case I hope you're really good at CSS, and good luck doing line and page formatting), and LaTeX eventually gives you the control you need (unless you want to break tables across pages or control line and paragraph layout within cells, in which case you're stuck with a lot of little niggly details).

Also good luck getting most authors to use LaTeX except for the most simple cases.

change the display of cells and borders ... line and page formatting ... break tables across pages or control line and paragraph layout within cells ...

And you are layering all of that on top of POD? Seems like the wrong starting point to me,

Print preview does a pretty good job of pagination of html. Print to a pdf or postscript printer to get into those formats...

Maybe compared to Microsoft Word. Have you any experience in publishing, layout, or typography?

        Maybe compared to Microsoft Word.

Where does that come from? I haven't owned a copy of Word (or even used it) for at least 15 years. And when I did, it was because that was the customers choice.

Yes(*). Certainly enough to know that it is a field with so many established tools available that reinventing the wheel on top of POD is ...

        (*) Specifically, QuarkXPress.
