You'll note he doesn't actually say anything about perl 7 in the body of the entry. Mainly because it's not happening. I presume this is just some sort of traffic grab. | [reply] |
Right, like you're on the inside of the Perl Cabal. Why should we believe some random guy with an account - anyone can claim to be whomever they want to be on the internet. Show us some
. . .
<off_stage_whisper>
He is Dan Sugalski. Dan IS in The Perl Cabal, you twit. Shut up before you get Borged. Again.

Oh.
Well, in that case, I guess I should get going. I have an appointment, with, err, with a person. Yeah. Nice talking to you, see you later. Bye now.

P.S.
for the humor-impaired
Yes, I know that Dan is so deep inside Perl that he needs a repeater to get local radio. I'm having fun. You know, that thing that makes your mouth open and funny sounds come out? Sometimes you spray milk out of your nose? ... Well, I enjoyed it.

Perl programming and scheduling in the corporate world,
as explained by dragonchild:
"Uhh ... that'll take me three weeks, broken down as follows: 1 day for coding, the rest for meetings to explain why I only need 1 day for coding."

I know Andy. That doesn't sound like the thing he'd do, especially since I'm one of the few people who would ever really *want* to do a traffic grab to that site. :)
I was at the auction. Ingy actually "launched" Perl 7 by re-enacting Jon Orwant's fabled mug throwing. "Perl 6 is doomed. We need Perl 7." It was a joke and I think Andy just forgot to explain that. No malice, just sleep deprivation.

Should I learn Perl 6 or just wait until Perl 7 is out? Which do you think would be a better use of my time?
I'm also making a presentation tonight about Perl 7 but I don't really know much about it, could you let me know of a few neat features I could present? There's going to be about ~150 people there and I wouldn't want to just make stuff up.
