Greetings,

I've seen very interesting writings about internacionalization here and here. Please folks take a look. It's really interesting, so please take a look before you go on.

So, I was thinking about a session on the site dedicated to tutorials written in other languages than english. It could be like just tutorials in the beginning and, if the idea really works maybe extend to some comments - like meditations or seekers...

i think it would be a great feature for our community, and if you read the nodes the I pointed, I think you would agree with me.

What do you think, fellow monks?

Best regards,

    The first of (hopefully many) non-English tutorials for PM was submitted to this site last week by busunsl here and can be found in the tutorials section under the heading of "Non-English Tutorials" - This topic was discussed prior to the posting of this tutorial here

    perl -e 's&&rob@cowsnet.com.au&&&split/[@.]/&&s&.com.&_&&&print'

    Since I somehow was the reason for this thread, I'd like to add that I was not the first to provide something not in english to the monastery.

    This book review by arhuman should be worth a read for french speaking people.

    I also like his idea to provide a translation, although I think the translation would be necessary only if there is no adequate tutorial/review available.

    The special section in tutorials already exists.
    So if you have a tutorial, just post it and it will be moved to the appropriate section.
    Just make sure one can see it is not in english. I did it by adding (lang: de) to the heading (idea of Ovid).

    I think this is an excellent idea!

    My primary language, actually my only human speaking language, is English.  However, although I'm moderately new to this site, Perl, and Italian, I think that I might like the challenge of writing a tutorial in Italian.  Of course, if there are any other takers for an Italian tutorial who are fluent in the language and Perl, I'll leave it to them.  But, if no one is willing to do it, I think I could do it with the help of some Italian speaking, computer illiterate relatives of mine.  I'm assuming that it would be acceptable for me to take the existing English tutorial pages and modify and translate them.

    I think I could learn a lot about Perl and Italian in the process, so I'm interested in the idea.  If what I'm offering sounds good the powers that be, I'll do it.  I would just like some tenative approval from vroom or whoever will approve and actually do the integration of what I create into the site.

      I think you should do it.

      It's always a good thing to have a tutorial written in your language.

      Good luck! : )
