in reply to Apocalypse 6 is out

Oooh it's on slashdot! Now we can troll there instead!

For the morally opposed, I shall now summarize the comments:

That's about it, as you can see it's a great improvement over the last announcement! ;-)

      Yes! COBOLSCRIPT!!!

It's the ultimate evil, a technology that should have been long forgotten but lives on in a new form! I'm sure you can see where analogies between it and Perl are made.

Indeed. They lurk in the shadows and when they strike they do not reveal their dark master. They realize that they will only be brushed off as fanatics clinging to a piece of history. You can spot them by their opposition to practically everything, except TCL, which they will not mention by name.

Actually... no. :) The only thing I can find that relates to Perl is a small bashing in the FAQ, in which Perl is accused of requiring "prohibitive training expenses or effort" (whatever *that*'s supposed to mean)..

I (fortunately, from what I've heard) don't know Cobol really, but this (with gems like "ACCEPT DATA FROM WEBPAGE") looks surprisingly similar to Intercal to me. :) Anyhow, apart from that, I guess it's good to see some diversity in the field of programming languages - and also, let's not forget that it's the unix way of doing things to give you enough rope to hang yourself with. From what I've read at the site, Cobolscript seems to fit in perfectly with that.
