I have put up a version with a pod2html style toc here (221 kB). That is how I prefer to read it.

MJD says you can't just make shit up and expect the computer to know what you mean, retardo!
    I run a Win32 PPM repository for perl 5.6x+5.8x. I take requests.

++PodMaster. Can't read the original on perl.com, since the server seems to be extremely busy (I wonder why... :-)), so your copy is the only way for me to read A6 right now. Thanks!

Purdy. You truly are the Pod Master! ;-)

Oooh it's on slashdot! Now we can troll there instead!

For the morally opposed, I shall now summarize the comments:

    • This is too long, I can't read it.
    • Perl is line noise. I'm afraid of syntax.
    • I'm a python/ruby/tcl/java/etc troll.
    • One word. COBOLSCRIPT!
    • Parrot is Perl 6.
    • I wrote a complete Perl 6 compiler in 4 hours, but it only runs on my super nintendo. No you can't see the source code.
    • First Post!

That's about it, as you can see it's a great improvement over the last announcement! ;-)

OK, I have to ask. COBOLSCRIPT? And also, there are tcl trolls?

OK, I have to ask. COBOLSCRIPT?

        Yes! COBOLSCRIPT!!!

It's the ultimate evil, a technology that should have been long forgotten but lives on in a new form! I'm sure you can see where analogies between it and Perl are made.

And also, there are tcl trolls?

Indeed. They lurk in the shadows and when they strike they do not reveal their dark master. They realize that they will only be brushed off as fanatics clinging to a piece of history. You can spot them by their opposition to practically everything, except TCL, which they will not mention by name.

Okay, I'll admit it. Apocalypse 5 scared me, but this one has me all excited for Perl 6 again. Any idea how long before Exegesis 6 or Apocalypse 7?

Man. What I really want to see is Perl 6, but I'm just going to have to be patient. Are there any pointers out there to Perl 6 concepts that brave souls have backported into Perl 5 modules?

I just realized that I was using the same sig for nearly three years.

Apocalypse 7 is at the end of Apocalypse 6. I promise. The next one is Apocalypse 12. Synopsis 6 should be out in a couple of weeks, and Exegesis 6 a few weeks after that.

For backported Perl 6 concepts, see the Perl6 namespace on the CPAN.

Since it seems like after this set they'll be going out of order (which I had guessed), is there any kind of scheme written down somewhere on the order they're planning on doing the rest of the Apocalypses?

Quoth Damian, the single biggest thing that annoys most people about Perl 6 after attending one of his talks about it is that it hasn't arrived yet..

      Makeshifts last the longest.

Ok, I'm only about half way through so far, but I think my favorite quote of A6 is going to be from the "Variations on a theme: Other kinds of subroutines: Macros" section, at the end of the third bullet point:

"But it's also very powerful. Hee, hee."
