After checking out SlashDot this morning, I saw that Savannah was back online, so I surfed to their site out of curiousity. At the borrom of the page I noticed a Help Wanted area. This included a link to Developers wanted.

Has anything like this been considered for CPAN?

I don't know if it's been proposed before, but I got mixed feelings about the idea. Will CPAN become SourceForge and start providing everything a perl developer needs? On the other hand, I do like rt.cpan.org, hmmmmmm

MJD says "you can't just make shit up and expect the computer to know what you mean, retardo!"
    I run a Win32 PPM repository for perl 5.6.x and 5.8.x -- I take requests (README).
** The third rule of perl club is a statement of fact: pod is sexy.

Although yours is the first response, I've seen a few downvotes go by .. I guess I should alter my aim a little and say that this shouldn't necessarily be part of CPAN. It could be a seperate site altogether, perhaps part of this site or just a standalone site.

Yeah, that's the kind of idea I had in mind.

I realize that there are many Monks who have plenty to do (I count myself in that group), but there are others who may have a few hours to burn .. and are interested in learning more Perl, perhaps by working on an open source project. How do they find out about what modules need work?

On the other side would be module authors who want to take a break from maintaining their modules, or who would like to implement feature requests or fix bugs but don't have time .. it's not really a cooked idea, but it's a start.

One more thing .. I'm not sure if this is covered already by sourceforge.net; I suppose this is kind of a Source Forge application for CPAN.
