Of course, the problem here is that each module gets one vote per download, regardless of actual usage. For example, I've installed dozens of modules merely as an excersise to help someone on perlmonks, never to use them again. Other modules are used on a day-to-day basis. Which one counts more in automatic statistics? Neither. Which one should?
Statistics are fine. As long as you understand what they're telling you. And that is extremely difficult to do, even for trained staticians.
