    They look to be working fine to me. Note that readmore tags only take effect when you're not reading the node directly, i.e. start at Tk::Thumbnail --> callback help and scroll down to see your reply.

    they are working, but as soon as you open the node, it shows the total text.
    In the overview i see this:
    Re: Tk::Thumbnail --> callback help by zentara on Apr 14, 2005 at 21:35 UTC Here, I chopped down the script I mentioned above, to just be a +thumbnail displayer, with HList. The thumbnails are stored in memory, + not disk files. I've left the HList -selectmode => 'single', and you + can work out how you would like to display multiple files. If you use -selectmode=>'multiple', you can use the "shift-left- +mouse-click" to select multiple thumbnails, but then you will need to + work out a display strategy. Maybe a "right-mouse-click" binding on +the HList, along with multiple labels(with images) in the main frame. + You can also put checkbuttons in the HList if you want. Anyways, thi +s should get you started. Read more... (6 kB) I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth. flash japh

    I have also had a recent problem with the readmore tags. I placed readmore tags in Help with tabstops in Win32::GUI around the code at the bottom but it displays the code anyway.
    Update:
    After taking a closer look at Writeup Formatting Tips I noticed that it says

    will not appear in a root node unless you're viewing it by itself.

    I'm not realy sure what by itself means.

      That doc could use some updating. For one thing, READMORE doesn't just work in "root node"s. For another, the description is not clear (as you noted). /me clicks the Need Help?? link and searches for "readmore"... *sigh*

      Well, the best explanation of READMORE I found just now was the one I wrote in a footnote of Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. I hope that helps some of y'all. Perhaps it will even inspire some SiteDocClan member(s).

        Thanks for the information. It does raise another question for me though. I noticed in Re^3: How to update a node? (readmore in code) that the raedmore tab appears to be case sensitive according to the second option below.

        you can write <READ MORE> or <READMORE>

        I know this is not the case with the <code> tag but are there other case/whitespace issues with the perlmonks approved tags, shortcuts, etc?

      Do your user settings have "Override <readmore> tags" set?

    Readmore sections have class attributes assigned to them that can be coupled with a touch of CSS to show text that would be readmored as highlighted a different way. For instance I have

    div.readmore {background-color: #eee;}

    in my user css, which makes it much easier to see what would be readmored when the node is viewed in the appropriate context.
