Fellow Monks,

While reading this (good idea, btw !) I remembered something I ran into a few days ago - The Python Challenge. It looks like real fun - a way to sharpen some programming skills. Two thoughts:

  1. Has anybody tried to solve the challenge in Perl ?
  2. Perhaps we can consider designing a Perl challenge in a similar spirit ? It looks like fun.

    I have been since you made me aware of it. Now I'm stuck on number 5 but I don't want to say why or I might give away what you need to do.

      I did the same thing yesterday. Got as far as number 5...then I realized that I should probably get back to my real work...programming visual c++...sigh

      It really is a neat concept though.

        Yes. I need to research what the Python should do and then I can rewrite it in Perl.

        There. I didn't give away the clue. :)

    After reading this post, I couldn't help trying... got to level 8th so far using only perl (except for a bit in the 5th).

    A little comment/question for those who have made it through level 5

    (Warning: big spoilers for level 5!):
    Did Python::Serialise::Pickle actually work for you? It wasn't working right for me :( what version have you been using? perhaps another module?

    So far I'm up to level 14... Level 5 sure was a tricky one and required some research, as in, finding the name of a certain python module and then looking for one with a similar behaviour on CPAN... (lucky it was there, else it would have been really hard, since I don't know a single bit of Python)...

    For those really needing a hint for level 5:
    Look on CPAN for a Module starting with Python::
