DBD::SQLite builds but fails tests...

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I'm trying to build DBD::SQLite and am having issues. I'm using a (very) old version of DBI, but it doesnt seem to complain during the Makefile.PL or make process:

Could it be my old DBI version? If so, does anyone know what version would still work with 1.32 (upgrading DBI is not an option in this case), or otherwise how I could get it to work?

You have an undefined symbol: undefined symbol: dbd_st_finish at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 229 This could be getting in the way of successfully completing the tests.	[reply]

There is most likely a version mismatch. Honestly I have been asking other sys admins how to solve this issue since you clearly don't want to use a newer version (sometimes upgrading versions introduces other problems or dependencies). The version of DynaLoader.pm on your system doesn't contain the symbol needed for the installation of the DBD::SQLite. I will provide more information if I find something.	[reply]

It looks to me as if it complains right away about your SQLite version: SQLite version must be at least 3.1.3. No header file at that version or higher was found. Using the local version instead. It tries to work with what it has, but it fails. I recommend you upgrade SQLite.	[reply]

the module itself contains a recent version of sqlite. what it "complains" about is that it first checks if a recent version is installed already on the machine. in this case, it looks like its not, so it uses the version integrated into the module	[reply]

OP here, could I perhaps compile but not install a newer version of DBI that I could then manually add its blib directory to @INC?	[reply]

OP again, sorry to keep replying to myself...its not the DBI version, i managed to circumvent the issues keeping me from upgrading and now tried it with DBI 1.50...same issues :(	[reply]
