Yes, I am aware of that. The question evolved into whether Win32:Daemon or the PerlSvc utility from ActiveState was "better". That I don't know. I suspect that "this depends on X,Y,Z..." (ie your mileage may vary).

    I won't get to try it out this time. Fortunately I've been let off the hook and can now return to writing perl for Linux (and the like).

      I have used the ActiveState tools in their PDK to make .exe versions of Perl. And with good success, albeit with some huge frustrations and many weeks of "work-a-round" effort.

      I don't know what would be involved with Win32:Daemon vs PerlSvc. I suspect some big problems either way! If anybody else our there knows about this difference, let us know!
