If the site was being visited by crowds of clueless disbehaving Czechs would you consider "I'm pretty sure the OP was czech" racist? "implied racism" ... Codswallop! Whenever anyone says anything that might be taken as bad about someone with a bit darker skin, someone is surely to jump up screaming "racism". Get real!

I think the mention alone that somebody is from India doesn't qualify as racism. But the post in question had one line nonsense, one line offense one one line referring to the OP being from India.

It's this combination that made the post seemed racist to me, and made me vote for "reap". I'm sure I wouldn't have voted that way if it was only for the last line, and not the previous two.

I think we should try hard to keep the Perl community friendly and welcoming.

I agree. Saying something bad about someone with a bit darker skin isn't racism. I didn't call it such either. I called it "extreme rudeness". This makes your argument moot.

The implied racism comes from when he supposed that the OP must be Indian. So what was his point? I interpreted the point as being something along the lines of "no wonder he's lazy" or "no wonder he's stupid", and that would be racism. I'd be glad to hear alternate interpretations.

Anyway, it was put to vote, and it seems PerlMonks agrees. (I suppose it's not clear what exactly they agree with.)

Well, then you either live among hypocrites or you think everyone is "extremely rude". Saying something bad about someone is quite often simply TRUE. It's rude or even extremely rude only sometimes. And whether it is depends on what what and how you said. If you cannot ever say anything bad about or to anyone, you have to lie about half of the time.

And regarding the next paragraph ... no that would not be racism. That would be experience. The original poster did sound like one of the bunch of Indians of late. No one said all Indians are stupid or lazy, but we've had quite a few that are apparently both lately so assuming another stupid or lazy poster is also an Indian is quite understandable. Though in the current politically correct world banned.

And not only is it unclear what did those monks agree with, but more importantly there were only five of them.
