No one here is stopping you from keeping a list of node IDs and writing a Perl script that grabs XML of the lastest nodes and updates that list. There is even lots of example code quite similar to this available. And if you run into problems, many of us would certainly help you there. And once you've written it, posting the code here is likely to get you at least a few XP.
But if you are holding your breath waiting for such a feature to be added to the site for you, well then, I suggest you breathe. There are certainly many things on the list of priorities above that and even those aren't being dealt with very quickly yet. We are trying to make improvements on how quickly we can make improvements, but with noone getting paid to do it, we all just have to be rather patient.
