Refreshing the Current Node

I don't know if this has been said/asked already .. apologies if so, my Super Search didn't turn it up.

A long time ago, I remember there being a number of discussions about mechanisms for refreshing the current node after, say, a form post.

I've recently found that it's possible to create a link in the Free Nodelet that allows you to do this:

[`id`|Refresh Node]
[download]

I'm interested to know why this works.. using `id` like this doesn't strike me as at all obvious. I presume it's something to do with the templating of the site? Are there any other of these "variables" available?

That's cool, but not necessary. At the top of all normal nodes, just under the title, is a line that includes a link to the current node. For example, at the top of your post, you should see (among other things) #476426=monkdiscuss It really couldn't be any more convenient.	[reply]

It really couldn't be any more convenient. But it could be a bit more obvious - especially since the text is just the node ID. I think it took me a year to notice that link :-) "What should it profit a man, if he should win a flame war, yet lose his cool?"	[reply]
