You are unfortunately mistaken. A file exists on a disk and is being pointed to from a folder.

Files/folder is a conceptual model/metaphor is based on real http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_folders.

So yes, files do reside in folders, regardless of the actual implementation details which Marshall describes

      The metaphor is still correct and useful

      Pretending that it isn't , that its wrong, is as ikegami already said

      Continuing to go around in circles is trolling

      There was no request or reason to explain how unlinking works. Unlinking may not always remove a file's contents from the disk, but it sure does delete files from directories.
