I'd be curious to know what you find out re: ActiveState vs Win32::Daemon. None of my Windows programs require a daemon, but you never know....

    Win32::Daemon is a module that allows you to write Windows Services. Take a look at the documentation - its still on CPAN.

      Yes, I am aware of that. The question evolved into whether Win32:Daemon or the PerlSvc utility from ActiveState was "better". That I don't know. I suspect that "this depends on X,Y,Z..." (ie your mileage may vary).

        I won't get to try it out this time. Fortunately I've been let off the hook and can now return to writing perl for Linux (and the like).
