I started to learn Perl in May of 2016.

When I was about 12 years old, my parents bought me a computer which was a 40MHz Intel 386DX with 4MB RAM and 128MB HDD running MS-DOS 5.00. I learned BASIC programming from a book, and later a friend began teaching me C, C++, x86 assembly, and HTML. He also tried to introduce me to Linux and Perl, but at that time I did not have any interest in Perl. I have been a DOS/Windows user most of my life, but I use Linux also from time to time. I have set up dual boot on my computer with SparkyLinux and Windows XP, and I use Windows XP most of the time.

When I was 17, I began building computers and troubleshooting Windows problems, and people would call me almost every week to get their computer issues solved. When I was 29, I started a computer business, doing data recovery, virus removal, Windows/Linux installation, website maintenance, and refurbishing old computers. The income is not much, so I do other things mostly. I'm a property manager. I also do construction such as framing, plumbing, flooring, etc.

From 2000 to 2016, I was mostly interested in JavaS‎crip‎t programming. But since 2016, I am focusing on learning and practicing Perl mostly. Right now, two of my favorite programming languages are Perl and JavaS‎crip‎t.

My hobbies are horticulture, backyard chickens, photography, and good coffee! I find computer programming to be very relaxing.
